Our History

Born within Christ Central Ministries, CCI exemplifies in education what Christ Central Ministries practices in its various mission stations and mission outreaches. Christ Central Ministries, founded by Rev. Jimmy Jones in 1997, seeks to offer the hope of the Christian religion and the help of Christian charity to all in need. Since that year, Christ Central has done just that through various locations throughout South Carolina and recently in other parts of the world. The ministries of Christ Central impact people ranging in age from babies to senior citizens; mobilize thousands of volunteers each year; partner with hundreds of denominations and organizations each year; and take shape in forms ranging from one-day festivals to year-long transitional homes.

In 2002, Rev. Jimmy Jones and Jason Conrad co-founded CCI in Wagener, SC. Jason Conrad had been an intern with Christ Central and moved to South Carolina to implement educational programming to touch the hearts and minds of Christians with the Christ Central philosophy of charity and unity. It seemed like God tested CCI from the very beginning to see if it would live up to its own teaching principles.

The first semester of study in the fall of 2002 revolved around helping one poor family in Wagener. With few students and fewer faculty, CCI answered the call to get involved in the homeless situation of Leonard and Carolyn. Truly, CCI’s entire future depended upon their care for this situation.

After helping this couple, CCI transitioned from a largely disliked and landlocked organization to something quite different. Since that opening semester, great favor has been bestowed upon CCI as evidenced in its growing staff and faculty, its board of directors, its numerous facilities, and its real estate to continuing growing into a large campus to facilitate thousands of students. Evidencing that favor is the plan to open a multi-million dollar library facility in 2009.
