writing as a mission

Submitted by Lily Weaks on Wed, 08/06/2008 - 4:42pm.

Everyone has a God given mission in life-sometimes several, and one of mine is writing.  Although I usually write magazine articles and books, I've been really enjoying my new writing path, journalism, and the skills it teaches me. I had written news articles before, but that was long ago.  Working for Christ Central has been such a gift, not only because of the new venues I get to explore but also because it enables me to "write the vision down" and to share God's good works with others for their information, and also for their encouragement.  I hope that others, like me, are very inspired when they see how much God can move in an organization dedicated to His glory and good works, and I've always thought that there are many more positive headlines and stories than are often depicted in most newspapers, where bad news seems to prevail.  I'm especially grateful to Dee Taylor and the Wagener Monthly, where a journalist can report a story and yet still include God and other positive elements freely, without having to water it down or take the spiritual aspects out in order to be received by the paper!  While I stick to the facts and write much more condensed articles for other area newspapers, it is truly a joy to be able to write the WHOLE story, God, joy, miracles and all with abandon in our own local newspaper!  Kudos to Mrs. Taylor for saying "yes" to HER mission!
